Reuben Morgan in Europe

Reuben Morgan just keeps on touring - after spending October in the US
and Canada he's now off to Europe. Morgan will be hosting a series of
worship events with his band, and promoting his debut album "World
Through Your Eyes" which is topping the charts around the world. By
the way, the cover the new album is different from the Australian
version, and though the songs are the same - the MIX is not the same.
They're more energetic in the US version.

Completely dangerous & radical letter from Tai of Third Day ...about Critics, Culture and "Christian Country Clubs"! MUST READ!

A Message from Tai of the Rock Band "Third Day"

Hey Everyone,

We're out here on the road working hard on tour. It's street week. So, we're hitting it hard. We've been doing morning radio, interviews, autograph signings, television, and, oh Yeah! Big Ole Concerts every night.

Last night, Mac, Mark, and I got on the bus and were reading through some of the lyrical criticism of the new project. We fully expected the criticism. So, we weren't surprised. We also feel more passionately than every that we have made the record that we needed to make so I'm not going to apologize for the record in ANY way.

I would like to address one aspect of the criticism in an undefensive manner I love worship music. I love worshipping God through music. In about 10 minutes, I'm going to go worship God through sweat at a Habitat for Humanity build in Dallas. I really believe what we tried to convey at the Dove Awards when we won the award for Praise and Worship album of the year. I believe that worship is so much more than music.

You know, there are times when I love hearing very bold statements and declarations of faith. There are times when we absolutely need to speak the name of Jesus, the only name under heaven by which we can be saved. But has anyone stopped to think that maybe we unknowingly use our Lord's name in vein? I mean we print the name of Jesus on Tee shirts because we know they'll sell. We let it roll off our tongues without a 2nd thought (Well at least when we're around other Christians.) I think sometimes we say his name without any reverence whatsoever.

Over the last few years, when worship music has become so huge, we all sing and say a lot of things that we don't really think about. It's easy to say 'em, but it's cliche'. I mean, unlike some of our critics, I'll look at myself first. I sing along to Show Me Your Glory and the line...."I want to see your face." Do I really mean that? If I did, I should be shaking when I say it... Because God's glory is something to behold. I'd probably just drop dead. Even Moses only got a glimpse of the backside and he glowed for days.

The thing with cliches is they're easy to say, but they don't always require thought. There is a time for bold, obvious statements. But there is also a time to be real. I don't live in a Christian utopia. I live in the USA. You might have missed the memo, but this isn't a Christian nation anymore. The name of Jesus is powerful, and it calls for a response. It's controversial. It's never something to be ashamed over. But, we should speak His name reverently and purposefully.

God has been calling us in the band to step out. We were meeting with our road pastor yesterday, and he reminded us of how this process has been years in the coming. He reminded us of all the prayer and study that has gone into this process. You know what, I think he's calling us all out. With our record, and in our upcoming concerts and interviews, we want to create art that challenges us all to think about what Jesus did for us. Sometimes that requires more than just spewing out an easy statment like, "Jesus died for your sins." and crafting a song, a parable if you will, like Innocent which paints a picture that those outside of our Christian "country clubs" might be able to understand as well. (Who else tended to speak in stories and in the language of His culture?)

We're stepping out. We're going to do whatever we can to get our music and the message of our music out into our culture. I'm tired of complaining about the stuff I see on the news. I want to start shaping the news. I'm tired of complaining about Janet Jackson superbowls. I want our music and message on the superbowl. I'm tired of complaining about a culture that's decaying. I want to be the salt that preserves the culture. I'm not ready to retreat and go to my Christian church, school, home, radio station, tv station, etc.

I want to change the world. So, who's with me? You can point the finger at us. That's what "religious" people do. Or, you can join us. You can step out too. It won't be safe. The world will hate you.

Guess what, even more hurtful, your brothers and sisters in Christ will question EVERYTHING you do. But, you know what... God never said this life was supposed to be safe. Maybe if you're faith isn't attracting any criticism, that should be a wake up call because our Savior promised that it would come.

This is an invitation. join us on the wire. Walk out there with us.
Try and balance being in the world and not of it. you can't do that safely. The big slogan of a Christian radio station in our whole town is "Safe for the whole family." Well you know what, that's all fine and good, but I think God has called us to be ...

DANGEROUS FOR OUR WHOLE CULTURE!

Your fellow gomer,
Tai

Sarah Morgan asking for Testimonies - email her at info@fivelines

I GIVE YOU MY HEART - Do You Have A Testimony relating to this song?

When Reuben first wrote songs for church in Sydney back in 1995...Lord
I Give you my heart was penned...a beautiful love song to Jesus about
Surrender. It has had wide reach and impact...exceeding the original
intent for the song and spurring people's love for Jesus.

Sarah Morgan is now asking if you have a story relating to this song
or a testimony about the song that you are willing to share if you
would please email her at info@fivelines.com. She is creating a folder
of stories and would love to hear from you - please let us know if it
is inappropriate to publish it or if you would prefer to remain
anonymous.

What an experience!

The Worship event is now over for now. Araneta was drowning in both tears and blessings- you can physically feel it rain down. This started when about 2000 people attended the seminar. Share your experiences and thoughts in either the expanded tagboards on the right or the now activated comments below. Let everyone know how God has affected your life through this event. How it was before and the transformations (if any) during the event or after.

Did you know what:
- 1700 people WALKED IN the day of the seminar? They got their tickets on that day only.
- Araneta's 9000 seat arrangement was 80++ % full. Could be higher but I'm not that good with percentages.
- Attendance was like 8000 people. Was it really an empty coliseum? See for yourself.

body of work. We are humbled to partner with Reuben to introduce this
already well known worship leader to churches in the U.S."

Find out the source of Hillsong's annointing in an interview with Reuben Morgan

Interview with Reuben

Seeing the World Through Reubens eyes

With World Through Your Eyes due for release in the next few months in
the USA, Europe and beyond, Reuben has spent alot of time answering
questions about himself, the project and his views on life - we
thought that you may enjoy reading his ideas, conversion and first
ever album. Reuben is currently in the USA recording and attending
GMA.

1) When did you start writing songs?

Ever since I first picked up the guitar at six or seven years of age,
I have always loved writing. I used to spend time messing around on
the guitar and try to make up my own songs and little pieces- I
preferred doing that over what my teachers at school were giving me to
play. I was also involved in bands when I was growing up and used to
write some of the music that we'd play. When I got saved though, I
stopped doing all the bands and a lot of the music that I loved- my
life needed a bit of a change so music became a lot less of a priority
for me.

It was only when I started really getting into the worship at Hillsong
Church a number of years later that I ever even considered writing a
worship song or anything like that. I used to just sit in worship
services and feel so stirred to write and to write worship songs. I'd
find myself coming out of church with song ideas in my head- I just
started practicing and learning. Through this time, I guess I wrote
what you could call my official "first song"!

2) What was the first song you wrote?

One of my first worship songs was Lord I Give You My Heart- I wrote
this song while I was studying at the music institute. The week before
I had been travelling to minister somewhere with some friends and was
involved in a car accident… the kind that reminds you how fragile life
is. I remembered later that week I was writing and playing around with
a melodic idea that I had been working on and it was just like (for a
moment) I had tapped into this deeper well and I was singing "Lord I
give You my heart, I give You my soul" over and over. It's a prayer I
had been praying for a while and it all just fit together- one of
those songs that seemed to write itself.

3) How do you feel about the impact that your songs have had on people
such as Lord I Give You My Heart, Eagles Wings and My Redeemer Lives?

I see it as a real privilege. God has blessed our church in an
incredible way and the ministry of Bobbi & Brian, Mark and Darlene's
ministry and subsequently our worship team. It's incredible that these
songs that began as my own prayer and heart's desire would be the
prayer of many other people also.

4) What musical instruments can you play?

I now mostly play the guitar (acoustic) as it works the best as far as
worship leading goes but I have spent lots of time playing and
studying the electric. I mess around a bit on the piano but wouldn't
say that it's an instrument I can play!

5) What did you want to be or do before becoming a worship leader and
song-writer?

I have always wanted to play music- it's been a bit of a life long
thing for me… I don't know if I've ever imagined myself doing anything
else.

6) How long have you been involved with Hillsong? What has been the
different roles that you had been doing?

I have been at Hillsong church for about 10 years now. I have done
many different things such as choir, leading youth worship, answering
emails for Darlene, overseeing our musicians, pasturing and discipling
people, rostering, and whatever else was the go at the time- there's
always something that needs doing! I have been on staff now for about
7 years.

7) When did you first join Hillsong and how did come about?

In 1995, I moved from Melbourne to Sydney to study music. I had heard
about Hillsong church through some friends and started attending- not
long after that, I decided to make it my home church. I became
involved in the youth ministry and then became a part of the music
team- I've loved it ever since!

8) How is your first solo album World Through Your Eyes different to
any other Hillsong albums that you have been involved with?

It's a devotional album. When I set out to create the album, there
were a few things in my heart about it- one was that because of the
nature of how we come together as 'church', there are some themes that
have to be excluded.

Church isn't just Sunday, most of my songs thus far have been for
Sunday but this is for the rest of the week. World Through Your Eyes
is meant for picking up and putting it in your car and worshipping
God, worshipping God when you hear it on the radio, worshipping God in
your room- It's created for that format. That has meant for me that I
had more more melodic licence in creating the album that I usually
allow myself for church songs, more license for themes- the breadth of
the themes in the Psalms is massive and we don't cover all those
themes on Sunday.

My passion behind doing World Through Your Eyes was more diversity- it
covers more of my experience, the human experience, which I think is
what the Psalms do- they cover every human experience.

9) Tell about some of the songs on the album?

The songs on the album have been crafted over years- lots of thoughts
and ideas coming together. They are mostly songs that I wanted to
write but didn't intend for congregational worship so for me, they are
more personal even though I know that some of the song can and are
being used by people in church settings.

The song "World Through Your Eyes" for example is about being on the
mountain with God- it's all about intimacy and experiencing worship in
creation.
It's really meant to be a prayer prayed from this place that as I go
down the mountain from here, God would help me to see the world
through His eyes.

There is another song on the album called "Waterfall". This song is
all about the journey from being in a desperate place of feeling dry
before God and in need of Him (the desert place) to believing and
experiencing God's presence. His presence is like a waterfall- like
Niagra Falls- in God's presence all you want to do is cry "take me
deeper in love, take me deeper with you".

Reuben Morgan,Hillsong FROM AUSTRALIA IS COMING TO THE PHILIPPINES!
Experience Great Music and God's Presence in a Fresh Way

Dear Friends,

Do you sing the song, "Lord, I Give You my Heart"?

How About, "Shout To The Lord"?

Or, "You Are My World"?

For many years now, Hillsong worship music from Australia has
taken us by storm. I've attended Filipino prayer meetings that only
used Reuben Morgan, Hillsong songs!

Because their music is powerful. Boldness, freshness, honesty
they bring us to God's Presence in a unique way.

Friends, we have the great privilege of bringing Reuben Morgan of
Hillsong to the Philippines. When? On June 11, at the Araneta
Coliseum.

Don't miss this Spirit-filled event!

Tickets are at P150, P400, P800 and P1500.

If you get the P800 and P1500 tickets, you can join the Worship
Workshop at 4pm, which Reuben Morgan will give before their concert.

Bring your whole community! At the very least, bring your whole
music ministry and experience.

See you on June 11!

I remain your friend,

Bo Sanchez

Tell me about Reuben Morgan?

Tell me about Reuben Morgan?

Reuben Morgan was born in Melbourne, Australia in 1975. He grew up in Papua New Guinea until he was 11 before returning back to Australia to complete his high school education. He is married to Sarah and they have a son named Jones Berlin who was born in 2003.

How did you become a Christian?

It was around the end of 1992 that I finally accepted Jesus as my own. After a real time of feeling lost, I got to wonder about Christianity and decided to read some books that had been recommended to me. After reading the books "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis and "No Compromise" by Keith Green, I knew that it was real and I needed God in my life.

I made the decision to accept Jesus at the beach one summer when I was away with my family and God began to work in me- His presence has never left my life since!

Tell me about your Family?

My family is real important to me and the source of constant strenght and inspiration. I am married to Sarah who is an incredible woman of God - a great bible teacher, patient wife and remarkable mother...and together we have a son Jones who has changed my life and the way I view the world.....the greatest thing ever is to come home to the 2 of them!!!

How did you come to be a part of Hillsong Church?

I got involved in Hillsong Church when I moved to Sydney after high school to study contemporary music at the Australian Institute of Music. My goal was to move back to my home town (Melbourne) after I had finished there but over the two years I was studying I had become really involved in our youth ministry and the church team and ended up making the choice to stay. I had been writing songs on and off since I was really young but being at Hillsong Church and becoming really connected into church life inspired me to work on songwriting as a craft and for congregational worship… the more I did it the more I loved writing and what I saw God doing through the songs in churches. Worship leading and writing worship songs was something I never dreamed I would do but one of our youth pastors really encouraged me to do it and stuck with me through some pretty forgettable worship services I led but I'm glad he did.
